DTN COMMENTS: All is quiet in the country with business essentially done 
for the week. This week Northern dressed deals have had a range of $288 to 
$293, mostly $290 to $291, $1 to $2 lower than last week's weighted 
averages. Southern live transactions have been marked at $182 to $183, 
mostly $183 fully steady with last week's weighted averages.

Today's slaughter totaled 96,000 head, 18,000 less than last week, and 
21,000 below a year ago. Saturday's kill is estimated at 11,000, bringing 
the weekly total to 612,000 head, 13,000 under the prior week, and 55,000 
down from 2022. Cattle futures closed sharply lower on both live (off 157 
to 250) and feeder (down 185 to 375) contracts. Beef cutouts are expected 
to close mixed with moderate to good box movement.
